The Mirvac Group commenced as one of our Principal Partners in 2009 when The Foundation was establishing the first Living Centre at 390 St Kilda Road, Melbourne. Mirvac owned the building and very generously leased The Living Centre premises to Think Pink at a substantially reduced and very affordable rental. Through their network of contractors, Mirvac provided the entire building fit-out free of charge. These set-up costs were valued at over $200,000.
In addition, as part of their initial sponsorship, Mirvac also provided the two-bedroom caretaker’s residential apartment at no additional cost to allow The Living Centre to provide emergency accommodation for rural-based, VPTAS qualified patients and their carer travelling to Melbourne to undergo treatment.
Mirvac continues to support the Living Centre through workplace giving and by supporting Think Pink’s fundraising events with financial sponsorship, providing staff, volunteers and logistical support. In 2017, together with Freemasons Victoria, Mirvac entered into a three-way partnership with Think Pink to sponsor the rent of the Living Centre premises in St Kilda Road Melbourne at a cost of $70,000 per annum for 3 years.
Today, Mirvac is still our Principal Partner, having provided new premises at Docklands for Think Pink into which the Living Centre was relocated early in 2020. Once again, both Mirvac and its network of consultants and contractors generously provided the entire fitout for the new purpose-built Living Centre valued in excess of $750,000 totally free of charge.
The new Living Centre was officially opened on 16th February, 2020 by The Hon Katie Allen MP on behalf of The Hon Greg Hunt MP, Federal Minister for Health. The opening was personally attended by several members of Mirvac’s Senior Management Team together with many other sponsors, donors and stakeholders.
On an ongoing basis, Mirvac continues to support our Foundation’s fundraising efforts by providing our Living Centre premises free of charge and through events such as our annual “Putt In For Pink” Golf Day held at the Victoria Golf Club.
