Yoga via Zoom – 27 February

  • Yoga with Ros
     9:30 am - 10:30 am

Join Ros Hyde for a series of online oncology “yoga4cancer” yoga classes, tailored specially for Think Pink clients.

“Yoga4cancer” is a unique yoga method designed to address the specific physical and emotional needs of cancer patients and survivor and will be specifically tailored for the Think Pink community. The class will involve yoga movement with breath, well supported restorative yoga poses and relaxation.

Ros has been teaching yoga since 2014 and is a yoga4cancer certified teacher. After observing that many people who attended her regular yoga classes had been touched by cancer, she undertook oncology yoga teacher training with Tari Prinster in the US. Tari developed the yoga4cancer methodology. Ros believes that oncology yoga offers a way for cancer patients to connect with their body and to learn tools to help manage their emotional and mental wellbeing. The side effects from cancer treatment can persist for a long time after diagnosis and treatment and managing these side effects is one of the foundations of yoga4cancer.

For our yoga4cancer class we use a lot of props to ensure that the yoga practice is safe and accessible. However, if you don’t have yoga props we can use alternatives from our homes, as noted below:

– a yoga mat- don’t worry if you don’t have this for the first class.

– yoga blocks- alternatives include rolls of paper towels, or stacks of old DVDs sello-taped together to make blocks!

– a chair

– a blanket- any home blanket is great.

– a bolster- an alternative is a thick bed quilt folded, or a couch or chair cushion.

– a strap- a belt, scarf or exercise band.

Sessions will be available weekly from 9.30am to 10.30am on Tuesdays.
