Supporting Blokes Group via Zoom – 3 July

  • Supporting Blokes
     6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Join us this month with a guest speaker Nutritionist Naomi Lawrance via Zoom. Naomi will be speaking from 6:30-7:30, with the Supporting Blokes group resuming from 7:30-8:00.

Nutrition plays a powerful role in managing energy levels and side effects during treatment, optimising weight and body composition during and after treatment and reducing the risk of breast cancer recurrence. Nutrition advice can be overwhelming and confusing, Naomi will clarify the fact from fiction and there will be plenty of opportunity to answer your individual questions. Naomi’s online class will discuss cooking ideas, nutritious meals and supporting wellbeing.

N.B Please send through any questions you may have to Jamie so that they can be incorporated into the presentation.

Naomi is passionate about supporting people to make lasting changes to enhance their health and improve their relationship with food. She recognises that each person has a unique background and goals therefore requires a tailored plan to optimise their health. Her approach to nutrition is holistic, individualised and evidence based.

The Supporting Blokes Support Group is a group for the male partners of women affected by breast cancer. Having a loved one diagnosed with breast cancer can have an impact on relationships and the family unit.

This group offers men a chance to share experiences, learn coping strategies and gather information. We discuss how you can best support your partner through this difficult journey.  The sessions are a safe space to share, learn and help each other get through this hurdle. The sessions are run by our Breast Care Nurse Consultant Jamie Kelly and we are often joined by a guest speaker to offer their expertise on a particular breast cancer topic or men’s health topic.

The Supporting Blokes group meets the first Wednesday of every month from 7.30pm-8.30pm. We appreciate that people have busy lives and we understand if you can only join for part of the session.

If you are thinking of joining, please come along and give it a try!
