Pink Sisters (women under 50) Support Group via Zoom – 9 May

Join us via Zoom!

For our May group we will be joined by Exercise Physiologist – Dale Ischia.

Exercise considerations throughout treatment and beyond.

Amidst the challenges of cancer treatment and beyond, it can be beneficial to concentrate on something you can manage: exercise.

Many of us recognize the value of staying physically active, especially throughout treatment. However, its importance goes beyond mere acknowledgment—it stands as a pivotal element of cancer care, supported by respected organizations such as the Clinical Oncology Society of Australia (COSA).

It’s not just about moving; it’s about moving with purpose. By engaging in tailored exercise routines, individuals can maximize the benefits, mitigating treatment side effects and overcoming the formidable obstacles that cancer and its treatments impose.

In this talk series, Dale will delve into the profound impact of exercise on the breast cancer journey. From debunking misconceptions to exploring evidence-based strategies, we’ll empower you with the knowledge to harness the full potential of exercise in your fight against cancer.

Dale will be giving a series of talks throughout the year, covering exercise considerations during & after:

  • Surgery
  • Chemotherapy
  • Radiation
  • Hormone Therapy

** For anyone in attendance to the Moving Beyond Cancer talk that is interested in accessing an initial assessment with Moving Beyond Cancer, Think Pink is offering a $40 subsidy for an Initial Assessment with a Moving Beyond Cancer Exercise Physiologist.

A code word will be shared during the talk to access this subsidy.

A diagnosis of breast cancer can bring many challenges and we are here to help you through this journey. If you are in your 50s or below this support group is for you.

In this group you will have an opportunity to meet others who are travelling a similar life path and to share your experiences. This group offers women a chance to connect with others, learn coping strategies and gather information. We discuss how we can best support you through this journey.  The sessions are a safe space to share, learn and help each other get through this hurdle. The sessions are run by our Breast Care Nurse Consultant Jamie Kelly and we are often joined by a guest speaker to offer their expertise on a particular breast cancer topic or health related topic.
