Palliative Care and Symptom Management

Join us for our final combined education session for the year Live at The Living Centre or via Zoom!  This month we are joined by Palliative Care Nurse Consultant Kaye Hose.

Kaye Hose is a Palliative Care nurse consultant from the Austin Hospital. Kaye will be joining us once again to continue the discussion around the topic of ‘symptom management in palliative care’

She will talk about some of the common symptoms managed in a palliative care clinic, including pain, anxiety and nausea.

About Kaye

Kaye’s experience in palliative care is in both the hospital sector as a Palliative Care Nurse Consultant at The Austin Hospital and in a previous role in the community with Melbourne City Mission Palliative Care service as a Clinical Nurse Specialist. Kaye is currently employed with Austin Health and is involved in transitioning patients from hospital to home with The Palliative Care Acute Transition Home Service (PATH).  Kaye also works in the outpatients setting in the Palliative Care Clinic which focus’s on keeping patients well with symptoms managed in their own home

Also in keeping with a community focus, Kaye currently works on the Palliative Care Advisory Service which is a phone service set up by The Department of Health to support both the community and health professionals in the provision of palliative care.

Kaye’s ongoing commitment is to improve patient health outcomes is also demonstrated in the completion of  a project exploring the implementation process of a transition model from hospital to home which was undertaken in the leadership subject as part of her study of a Masters of Advanced Nursing – Nurse practitioner at the University of Melbourne.

This is a combined Second Hope & HOT Pink Sisters session.
