Where does the money we raise go?

The Think Pink Foundation provides assistance both directly and through partner support organisations such as The Cancer Council Victoria and its Cancer Information and Support Service.

Since 2002, Think Pink has raised over $1,000,000 for the Cancer Information and Support Service to be used specifically in connection with their programs for breast cancer patients. This has had a profound effect on their ability to help these patients in three very substantial ways: 1. The funds we raised provided sixty (60) scholarships to train Breast Care Nurse Counsellors who now operate in rural and metropolitan hospitals right across The State of Victoria. These counsellors help breast cancer patients each and every day by providing emotional support and treatment information from their initial diagnosis, in cases of recurrence and onto the end of their journey with breast cancer. 2. The funds we raised increased the ability of the Cancer Information and Support Service to provide financial assistance to breast cancer patients in the form of emergency grants. Each and every day, these grants pay for essential items for patients such as mortgage repayments, electricity bills, transport to treatment centres, emergency child minding and wigs for chemotherapy patients. 3. The funds we raised were the predominant source of funds for Breacan’s (a division of The Victorian Health Service) production of an information book and DVD set entitled “Young Women Talking”. This book is an important resource used each and every day by both patients and medical practitioners dealing with breast cancer-related issues specifically encountered by younger patients. Most importantly on 1st July 2010 The Think Pink Foundation opened the doors to The Living Centre. The first of its kind in Australia, the Living Centre is a non-hospital based wellness facility that provides assistance, counselling and support for breast cancer patients, their families and friends, to help them in their moments of need. Being a volunteer based charity, The Think Pink Foundation minimises all of its expenses to ensure all money raised is directed towards its chosen initiatives.
